Your child doesn’t need to have any previous drawing or programming experience to enroll in our video game coding course for kids. We will teach the basics of both art and programming while at the same time giving your child access to our art and plugin libraries which they can use to create their own games. In our comprehensive online indie game making course your child will learn how to create beautiful and professional video games from scratch using RPG Maker MV game engine. Our goal is to give your child (even those with no knowledge of game making) the skillset and confidence to make games. We hold your child’s hand every step of the way making the process rewarding and enjoyable for them.

How to make a video game

How to make a video game for beginners

Most children can complete our video game development course in about 1 – 2 weeks. However, this largely depends on their age and how much time they commit to the course. We do our best to ensure that children can learn independently, however younger children (5-10) may require some adult assistance. We encourage children and families to work at a pace that best suits the child’s needs. There is no rush. Your child has access to the course for 1 year after enrollment. Most children find game development incredibly fun, exciting and fulfilling. it’s best to work through the course at whatever speed is required to keep that passion alive!

Learning a new skill can be an intimidating endeavor. For this reason, we provide our students with a progress tracking feature that shows them at-a-glace information regarding where they are, how far they’ve come and how far they have to go. Our system also remembers where your child left off, so they can always return to the last module they were working on. Progress tracking allows your child to break larger tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. This helps your child keep their end goal in sight, while at the same time giving them the feeling of accomplishment each day as they complete the lessons within the course.

video game school student community

There may be times where either you, or your child have a question about something in the course. You can always ask us directly, or post your question in our student HUB. Our student HUB is a community of other game-makers who are going through the course at the same time. It’s a community that allows people to ask questions, help their peers, get inspired and share their work. We don’t want your child to feel that they are learning alone. We want them to see that others are as passionate as they are about the art and craft of game making. Students in our game development course get access to this private community for 1 year after their initial enrollment.

As your child makes their way through our online game making course they will be required to submit examples of their work along the way. This allows our teaching staff to monitor their progress to ensure they fully understand the principles being discussed in their lessons. After your child submits their assignment, one if our teachers will review their work and provide in-depth constructive feedback. Project feedback is meant to help your child identify and strengthen weak spots. Our obligation is to teach your child a new skill. We want them not only to love game making, but also be great at it. This is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.
